Frome Heritage Museum has a permanent exhibition showcasing the groundbreaking history of the Garston Veterinary Group.
The exhibition features a recreation of a veterinary surgery and displays of medication, veterinary equipment and other items collected over the decades. These have all been donated from the archives of the Garston Veterinary Group.
A book is available to accompany the exhibition, ‘Pioneers in Practice: the Vets of Garston House’, written by Lorraine Johnson. It records and celebrates the fascinating history of the practice.
The practice’s vets were truly revolutionary. Their ground-breaking work caring for the exotic animals at Longleat Safari Park and their innovative research and study of early vaccines for farm animals is inspirational.
The book ‘Pioneers in Practice: the Vets of Garston House’ costs £18 and is on sale at Frome Heritage Museum and local bookshops.
Copies can also be ordered from the Museum by post, telephone or email. Please add £4 for postage and packing:
