Frome is the birthplace of several noteworthy people and other celebrated men and women made the town their home.

The Museum holds many documents, photographs and portraits, ranging from King Eadred in the 10th century to Jenson Button in the 21st century.

So declared the Duke of Monmouth, the Protestant illegitimate son of Charles II, as he started out on his ill-fated voyage to Lyme Regis en route to a military engagement with the Catholic James II on the Somerset Levels near Westonzoyland.
