To mark the 80th anniversary of its sinking off Sicily on 14 March 1943, we have created a small exhibition about HMS Thunderbolt, a noted World War II submarine.
Formerly known as HMS Thetis, after being damaged in 1940 and subsequently repaired, it was renamed HMS Thunderbolt, returned to active service and adopted by Frome as part of a fundraising drive for the war effort.
The exhibition, which tells the story of the submarine and its connections with the town, will close on 21 April, to coincide with the anniversary of the date the sinking was officially announced.
