Our new window display celebrates the history of Frome Carnival, a long-established and well-loved local event. The planning for the first town Carnival started in June 1929 and the event was held only three months later, on 28 September.
It has taken place annually ever since, pausing only for World War II and the Covid-19 pandemic.
When the NHS was established in 1948, the Carnival became a registered charity trust. Today it is a major local fundraising event, supporting the work of a number local clubs, care facilities and youth support organisations.
This year’s Carnival will take place on Saturday 23 September.
